New Project - Restore Donkey Kong/Arkanoid cabinet

Postby Salmar on Sun Aug 09, 2009 3:02 am

This may be a new forum, but maybe some of the people viewing would be able to help. I bought an original Donkey Kong cabinet, that had been converted to Arkanoid. I like Arkanoid so figured I should just try to get that game working, but repaint the cabinet to the original Donkey Kong specs.

Well I have never done anything electronics wise, and this didn't seem too hard, but something new to learn. So far I've learned a lot at arcadecontrols.com, but might as well start here at a new forum to learn with everyone.

Please let me know if anyone has seen this and what it might mean.

This is the PCB for Arkanoid. I've used the attached ACSII pin layout to verify all connections, and they should be correct.e

This is almost definitely a toasted PCB. Inspect the board thoroughly and look for any burn marks or damages. You can even smell it if it's been burnt (indistinctable smell of burnt plastic).

Probably a shot in the dark, but see if you can find a replacement board (even just for try-outs) and I'm pretty sure it will work. The scrambled graphics you are seeing isn't because of the monitor, because it would cause different looking artifacts if the monitor was busted.
