Monitor questions?? Help if you can.

Hi all,

I am curious about tv's and which connections I need to work with a computer. All I have found at places like Goodwill so far are tv's with a co ax connection. If I were to plug this tv into a rf modulator would a pc be able to see it if the video card had an S-video plug on it? Any suggestions I would apprecitate.

Thanks,

Scott..

Well, basically all you need is a video card with Svideo-out, although a TV with VGA or component (RGB) will give a lot better image (SVIDEO is not really all that). A lot of TV's from 2000 and up have both VGA and component in so they would be your best bet. BTW, if you're planning to build an arcade cabinet an authentic arcade monitor is really worth the couple of hundred bucks more. I'm not a big fan of TV's in arcade cabs to be honest. I'd rather go with a CRT PC monitor and enable overlay effects in MAME as it'll look a lot better. :)

I know XGaming has the WG D9800 in stock (best arcade monitor out there imho) and if you want a video card which can output 15khz without hassle, get the ArcadeVGA from ultimarc. :)
