MK II & Ultimate MK III

Postby orphan31 on Mon Jul 12, 2010 4:06 am

Full disclosure, I'm a complete noob when it comes to the anatomy of an arcade game so please forgive my ignorance. I recently purchase a dedicated MK II cabinet. The cabinet actually has a jamma board for MK II and MK III bolted inside. Is there an easy turn key style solution for rigging a switch up so I may switch between and subsequently use both boards?

Yes there is. You need a MultiJAMMA board ( http://www.multigame.com/jamma.html ). These are usually found rather cheap on e-bay. Then you can grab 6 more JAMMA boards as well and get an 8-game cab. :) Good luck!

I have a question for you leo...

I own two MKII machines--one I converted to MAME and the other is an absolutely beautiful (almost mint) original machine. The problem I had on both (when the MAME conversion was still MK) was that the speakers would emit a slight buzzing sound when on. This sound was especially noticeable when the demo mode was cycling through without the game sounds.

I assume because this has happened on two machines that the problem is fairly common, but since most arcades were very loud, it never really mattered.

Finally...my question! Does your machine also have this issue?

Can't say I'm having that problem, as I don't own a MK cab. :) Sorry.

But, yes, it's pretty common on some cabs that they have this buzzing sound.

Haha...I was looking at the wrong name when I wrote that--it was supposed to go to Orphan31! But thanks for your reply. I've looked all over the web and can't seem to narrow down what causes it. Speakers, monitor, wiring, electricity, etc...or maybe everything.

How loud is the buzzing sound? It might be caused by electricity/poorly shielded wires.
