Hi all,

this is probably a long-shot as the description which I can give is vague at best, but I am looking for a the name of an arcade game I used to play.

The timeline must be somewhere between 85 - 95. It was a vertical scrolling spaceship shooter. there are many of these I know, but what stays in my mind with this game was the ability collect different weapons and select them at will. I remember for example, that one of these weapons was like an energy beam or flamethrower type entity which constantly projected about 5 or 6 ship lengths away from the ship.

Any ideas?

R-Type? Project-X?

unfortunately not, these are both horizontal scrollers. the game I am thinking of was a vertical scroller.
