What do you guys know about this Namco arcade machine?

Postby lazy_concept on Tue Oct 05, 2010 12:25 pm

Hi just saw this arcade machine on ebay, been looking for one of those with the Pac Man for ages. I am a total noob at arcade just remember spending hundreds on one of these some time ago. Would anyone know anything about them, the specs and how much they are worth. I know they don't come on the market often but I don't want to over pay. Thanks for helping out.

Hey Lazy,

What you're seeing is what's called a "Candy" cabinet. They are usually wired with Jamma (which means that it's easy to swap jamma-cartridges if you want other games on them). They usually sell for a few hundreds bucks in mint condition. I have no idea what type of drugs this eBay seller is on.

You are much better off looking for a mint Astro City cabinet (if you want plastic'y candy cabs) or just search ebay for Jamma cabs. Look at pictures and descriptions. You should be able to find a mint jamma cab for a few hundred bucks, tops.

Good luck!

PS. In case you didn't get it; don't even think about buying this cab at that price. ;)

I've been looking for an arcade machine with PacMan for a while too. Leo I appreciate the advice you gave Lazy. I'm new to the lingo for arcade games so this will make looking for a machine go a little smoother I hope.
