Virtua Fighter 2 Arcade Screen Issue

Postby seanscott83 on Tue Mar 30, 2010 3:51 am

I picked a Virtua Fighter 2 arcade about 2 years ago and when I picked it up it was is great working condition. Last summer the screen started to have issues. At first, there was about a 1" horizontal bar at the top of the screen where the image seemed like it had folded over itself. Then a few weeks later I lost most of the image and now it's a single bar less than 1/4" inch thick. The game itself seems to be functioning because I can hear the sounds and get into a match and the joysticks work.

The game was kept in my basement, which until I installed a permanent dehumidifier was very damp. I don't know if possibly some of the connections to the screen got corroded from the damp environment or if the screen simply went bad.

If the screen is bad, is it difficult to replace and where can you get replacements? I've included some pictures of the screen to help diagnose.

Thanks,
-Sean

Hi Sean!

Hmm .. I don't have any experience with the VF cabs, but I know they use some sort of 26" mid-res monitor. Can you find out the exact model/type? It might need a cap kit and if it's broken it should be easy to replace it with a generic 25hz monitor.
