Bejeweled 2: Mac and PC

Postby PacBot on Wed Sep 16, 2009 7:26 pm

(Game play on Mac is the same as PC, the title will install on both platforms)

I'm gonna divide this review into sections, here we go!

Title screen:

Talk about presentation, why don't other games do this?
After the logo goes by, you are able to select from 4 different game modes,
Classic (The original game, swap gems to fill up a progress bar. Game ends when player runs out of moves),
Action (Timed version of the Original),
Puzzle (Swap gems in the right place to solve a puzzle.),
Endless (Easy going, un-endable game)

Gameplay:

This game is based on swaping 3 or more like gems to make them dissapear from the board.
Swaping 3 gems makes the 3 gems disappear from the board.
Swaping 4 gems creates a power gem, which explodes when matched with 3, 4, or 5 of a kind.
Swaping 5 gems creates a Hyper cube. Swap the hyper cube with any gem on the map and it takes out all gems alike.

Music:

I might never review anything like this again, because this game and the Halo series are really the only games with
music good/great enough to put on a CD. I think this game really should be blasting from cars instead of that
horrible rap "music". Pop Cap is generous enough to have 3 packages containing the music, pictures, and wallpapers
from all 3 games in the Bejeweled franchise. I will post a download link at the end of the review.

Graphics:

Anybody here using Mac OS X can agree with me here. Aqua looks so good you just want to lick it!
The same goes for Bejeweled. The graphics are simply beautiful. I have never seen any modern puzzle game
top this. Not even *Gasp* Tetris (for the worlds most popular casual game, it should.). All the gems look like gems,
not cartoonish blobs drawn by a 5 year old. The space theme really works well with the game too.

Reaction:

Overall, Bejeweled 2 deserves a place on ANY gamers shelve, be it he/she is a hardcore or casual gamer.
I have always been a huge fan of puzzle games, since Tetris on the NES/GB and Dr. Mario on the NES.
The $19.99 USD price tag will last you many hours (Or days...O_O) of jewel busting action.

Bejeweled 2 earns 9 out of 10 gems!
