Factory restore error appears when powering up

Postby LostnotForgotton on Wed Dec 30, 2009 2:59 pm

I am new to the home arcade world so my technical knowledge is a bit limited at this point. I have a dedicated Cruis'n USA game that has recently started booting up up to a factory restore screen. When I switch the power on it goes through the normal ROM test as usual. After completing the ROM test it states that the factory restore settings have been initiated and then goes into a screen wanting to calibrate the wheel and pedals. In the calibration screen it says to center the wheel and not to press the gas or brake pedal and then press enter. I press the test button and the service button but nothing happens. Is there another enter button somewhere that I'm not seeing? Is there an external computer that needs to be plugged in to the pcb board in order to proceed? Could the back-up battery cause this problem if it were to run down? The game has worked perfectly since I bought it about a year ago up until this point and I can't get it to start up without going into this Factory restore mode. Once in the Restore screen I can't do anything to get out of it. Are there any suggestions as to bypassing the restore mode and having the game boot up as normal? I'm open to any suggestions.

Thanks!

Hmm some PCBs have jumpers or dipswitches where you can perform a lot of administrative actions. Check your board thoroughly and look for any such features. I don't have any experience with Cruis'n USA (or any other driving game) so I can't help you further I'm afraid.
